Heater Firmware for ValueJet Series

Necessary tools

 

In order to be able to install firmware, the following tools are required:

• Personal computer with MS Windows
• Network cable to connect the Valuejet wit the pc
• The latest MSA-tool (Mutoh Service Assistance) or VSM-tool (Valuejet Status Monitor)

 

Detailed instructions how to install the heater firmware, are described in the maintenance manual.

 

This heater firmware is supported on the following ValueJet series, loaded with the latest main firmware versions on the following models:

 

Important note Prior to upgrading the main firmware, it's strongly recommended always to upgrade to the latest released heater-firmware FIRST Failing to respect this sequence, may possibly result in a non-functional heater-control logic board, due to large differences between new and very old firmware versions

  Note This  heater  control  firmware  is  needed  for  vj-1638  and  for  vj-2638,  in  both printers, the implementation of the control menu is different.

• For vj-1638:
  • set 28: heaterctrl
    • Normal: default setting, first pre-heater and platen heater reach target, then later, dryer reaches target
    • Fixer: reduce waiting time before printing, starts printing when dryer reaches 70% of target temperature
    • Dryer: control of dryer is changed so that all the heaters reach target temperature simultaneously
• For vj-2638:
  • set 28: heaterctrl
    • Ecomode: heater works at reduced current capacity
      • Powerful: heater works at full power, temperature increases faster than in ecomode
      • Eco/fixer: ecomode, starts printing when dryer reaches 70% of target temperature, this gives reduced waiting time
      • Pow/fixer: powerful, starts printing when dryer reaches 70% of target temperature, this gives reduced waiting time
      • Eco/dryer: ecomode, control of dryer is changed so that all the heaters reach target temperature simultaneously
      • Pow/dryer: powerful, control of dryer is changed so that all the heaters reach target temperature simultaneously

This heater control firmware is needed for the upcoming VJ-2638.  The first production FW for VJ-2638, v2.04, requires Heater Controll F/W v1.19 or higher.
Uploading firmware on VJ-2638 requires MSA tool Ver.3.0.3.0 higher.
