How can I upload credit to my printer by means of an USB smart card reader?

Workflow - What to do?

  • Configure your VJ-printer in a smart - charge mode
  • Upload credit via the Mutoh Status Monitor application (MSM) and usage of a smart card reader

 

Step1: Configure your printer in a smart-charge mode

1. Retrieve MPI file from your VJ-printer (via MUTOH Service Assistance (MSA) tool)

2. Send MPI file to Mutoh Support Team

3. Mutoh Support Team will adapt the received MPI file, and reply with an ULK file

4. Send the ULK file towards your VJ-printer (via MSA tool)

 

Step2: Upload credit via the Mutoh Status Monitor application (MSM)

  • Install the MSM tool as described in the Mutoh Status Monitor manual
  • Connect the USB chip card reader to your computer and make sure the driver installation has been completed

  • Power on your VJ-printer
    As a result, the printer panel will display a <Smart/C End> message
  • Run the MSM tool, and select the correct printer from your MSM printer list
    Note: make sure there is a connection between printer and computer
  • Make sure the <Control Right> selection box has been enabled during your registration process of your printer.
    If not, no credit could be uploaded towards your printer.

  • To upload credit, select the <Smart/C Info tab>, <S/C Card tab>

  • Insert your smart chip card into the reader, and press the <Start> button
  • Upload your credit now by pressing the <UpDate> button

  • After pressing the <Update> button, following Smart/C update info will be displayed. Press <OK> to continue.

  • Now your credit will be transferred towards your printer

  • Info: when verifying your ink status menu of your printer panel, a credit percentage will indicate the available smart chip ink percentage (100% corresponds to 24 liters)
