TIB830 - Illegal printing on XPJ-661UF

We have identified an issue where abnormal "illegal printing" may occur on this model.

This issue may occur in the following combined configuration:

  • The printer is printing in Bi-directional print mode
  • The "Head travel" setting (in user mode) is set on "Machine" width

 

The following phenomenon may then occur:

Usually when "illegal printing" is occurring on printers, technicians tend to investigate the head cables or the print head first. In this particular case on this model, be careful because in the above circumstances this is not the case!

 

Cause

 

The issue has been identified and is due to firmware. The issue is present in firmware version 1.01 or lower.

 

Temporary solution - workaround

 

Change the setting of "Head Travel" in user mode from "Machine" to "Media" or "Data"

 

Permanent solution

 

The issue has been resolved with firmware version 1.02 or higher.
