TIB 854: Revised cap holder

We have been informed that some older revisions of spare caps for XPJ-1641SR-P and XPJ-1341SR-P are not 100% up to specification.

There is a slight possibility that with a certain impact, the cap might come off from the cap holder.

In order to improve the quality of the cap assy , the mold has been revised and new cap holders are being introduced.

Part numbers involved:

  • DH-40705 (head cap assy used on XPJ-1641SR-P and XPJ-1341SR-P/XPJ-1341WR-P)
  • DH-40707 (cap slider assy for XPJ-1341SR-P/XPJ-1341WR-P)
  • DH-40714 (periodic maintenance kit XPJ-1341SR-P/XPJ-1341WR-P)
  • DH-40847 (cap slider assy XPJ-1641SR-P)
  • DH-40851 (periodic maintenance kit XPJ-1641SR-P)

All parts with lotnumber Lxx2B or higher are OK.

Lotnumber info: Lot nr: Lddym, dd: date, y: last digit of the year, m: month.

Info month:

      • 1= january
      • 2= february
      • 3= march
      • 4 = april
      • 5 = may
      • 6 = june
      • 7 = july
      • 8 = august
      • 9 = september
      • A = october
      • B = november
      • C = december

 

Important !

Some older lotnumbers have been reworked already in Belgium and Japan. These can be recognised by the blue or black dot on the box. See images.

These do not need to be reworked locally.

ACTION:

In case you would have some older (not yet reworked) versions of the mentioned part numbers in stock, please let us know the affected part number and the amount  and we will ship an equal number of upgrade sets with a new cap holder and tube (if needed).

 

 

 

Cap rework procedure:

 

Note: be careful with opening and unpacking stock items in order to be able to repack them in good shape.

 

1/ Cap assy: twist and remove the cap holder and replace by a new version.

2/ Cap slider assy:

  • Remove the air release tube on the side of the air release valve

  • Remove the cap: While pressing in the direction of arrow 1, move it in the direction of arrow 2. Unhook the cap and pull it in the direction of the arrow 3 to remove it.

  • Twist and remove the cap holder

  • Remove the atmospheric release tube on the cap side:

  • Attach the new air release tube

  • Mount the new cap holder. Be sure to check that the claws of the cap holder are firmly inserted (easy to insert by using a flathead screwdriver or tweezers).

Also check that the cap and cap holder are straight on each other and not tilted:

  • Mount the cap to the slider assy
  • Attach the atmospheric release tube 
  • Repack as originally packed from the factory an,d mark the box in order for you to know the part has been reworked.
