How to switch a XPJ-1341SR-P from UMS11 to UMS21_V5_09-01-2026
MPORTANT: we advise you to pro-actively replace the ink pump (DG-43907) on field-units in order to ensure a good ink switch. In case the pump is not working 100% anymore the ink switch might result in missing nozzles after the switch. Extra ink charges might be necessary then to get all nozzles active.
1. Required items:
• FW V1.12 (or higher).
• MSA 6.0.6 (or higher)
• Wiper: part number IJ-WIP-02.
• UMS11-CL300E cleaning packs (4 Pieces).
• VJ-MS31-CL220E cleaning cartridges (4 Pieces).
• UMS21 inks.
• New ink pump: part number DG-43907H-40598.
2. Procedure:
• Install the V1.12 (or higher) firmware. You can use MSA V6.0.6 or later.
Important ==> All FW versions below 1.07 will not support the UMS21 smart cards !!
• Power on the printer in User Mode.
• Perform a nozzle check (in User mode) to document the current status of the print head.
• Power down the printer.
• Replace the pump to ensure a good ink switch!
• Start the printer in Self-Diagnosis mode.
• Reset the pump life time counter (>parameter>init.counter>pump).
• Empty the waste bottle.
• Perform a 'Longstore' (>Adjustment>Longstore) using NEW UMS11 cleaning bags and NEW UMS11 smart chips.
• Follow the instruction on the panel: Insert cleaning - Remove bags - ...
• When the procedure is finished, the panel shows "LONGSTORE".
• Power down the printer.
• Now the printer needs to be configured to be able to accept UMS21 inks:
- Send the MPI file (retrieved via the MSA tool) to the Mutoh Europe Hardware department via the ticketing system (http://support.mutoh.eu).
- Mutoh staff will create a new ULK file (company code) to be able to accept “UMS21”. Upload this ULK file to the printer (via MSA tool).
• Replace the wiper.
• Empty the waste bottle.
• Power on the printer in User Mode.
• Display shows: 'INK charge - Start>Enter' , then Press <Enter>.
• Insert NEW MS31 cleaning cartridges.
• After the washing cycle, the display will show: "Wash Retry?". Choose No.
• Perform an 'ink charge' using UMS21 ink.
• Recalibrate the BI-D of the printer.
• End of procedure.
