Switch from DS3 inks to other type of inks on XPJ1642WR
Switching XPJ1642WR Printers from DS3 Ink Type
XPJ1642WR printers equipped with DS3 inks are locked to the DS3 ink type. To enable the use of other ink types, the printer must first be unchipped. This process involves two main steps:
Step 1: Remove DS3 Ink Type Lock
-
Send a fresh MPI file to us.
-
We will return an ULK file that removes the DS3 ink type restriction.
-
Upload the ULK to the printer.
-
After uploading, send a new MPI so we can generate a second ULK to unchip the machine.
Step 2: Perform the Ink Switch
-
Enter Diagnostics mode and run a Longstore procedure using the DS3-CL1000E cleaning liquid.
Use the IJ-INKTBCN4-01 ink tube connections for this step. -
While still in Diagnostics, navigate to “Parameter Update > Ink Type” and change the ink type to KIDS.
-
Restart the printer in normal user mode.
-
The printer will prompt whether a “wash retry” is necessary. This can safely be declined by selecting “No”.
-
You can now proceed to charge the inks.
