UV Switching from UH21 to US11 and vice versa

With this dedicated Technical Information Bulletin, we would like to explain the procedure how to switch from LUH1/UH21 (rigid UV ink) to US11 (flexible UV ink) and vice versa on a Mutoh UV printer.

1. Empty the waste tank and reset the waste counter if applicable.
2. Update to latest FW version
3. Replace the maintenance station and wiper assy.
4. Perform daily maintenance in order to make sure the printer is in perfect operation conditions. Make sure that the area around the print head is 100% clean, without any “dried” ink remains!
5. Perform a nozzle check (keep this nozzle check documented for possible future use)
   • In case the nozzle check is OK proceed to the next step.
   • In case the nozzle check is not OK, please act accordingly in order to start the ink switch procedure with a perfect nozzle check.
     If the print head needs to be replaced then we advise to perform an ink discharge before the head replacement.
     
     
6. Perform a “long store” in diagnostics to clean the ink lines (Menu Adjustment/Long store)
   • When the printer asks for cleaning cassettes, insert the cleaning cassettes with part code UH22-CL220E.
     
     

     Note Please only use new cartridges. The conversion procedure will not work properly with cleaning cassettes that have previously been used

     
     
   • Do not switch off the printer after completing the longstore!

   For VJUF and XPJUF models Proceed to the following step

8. While still in diagnostic mode go to menu 'Ink Charge: NORMAL'.
9. Select 4 or 6 colour mode (depending on your current ink setup) and insert the ink cartridges.
   
   

   Note Beware that it is not allowed to switch the ink colour configuration from 4 to 6 or from 6 to 4 colours!

   
   
10. On a VJUF and XPJUF 'Waste full' message will appear. Drain the waste tank and confirm with ENTER. Ink charge with new ink type will start automatically.
11. When the ink charge is finished, the message 'REBOOT PRINTER' will appear. Switch off the printer and start it in normal user mode.

Printer is ready for use.
