Necessary tools

In order to be able to install firmware, the following tools are required:

• Personal computer with MS Windows
• Network cable to connect the Valuejet wit the pc
• The latest MSA-tool (Mutoh Service Assistance) or MSM-tool (Mutoh Status Monitor)

Detailed instructions how to install the firmware, are described in the maintenance manual.

• Sometimes PF2 Overcurrent might occur while updating Bi-Dir adjustments or other internal parameters. This has been fixed
• If the network cable was interrupted while sending data through FTP, the connection could not be re established when the connection is back. The timeout for the FTP protocol has been set to 5 minutes.

User Mode

• The ENTER key must be pressed continuously to detect media. The display message was however not very clear on the panel. So the message on the LCD display has been changed from "No Media Detected" to "Init. Media = Enter 2s"
  
  
• The printer continuously beeps, when a warning or error occurs while no one is close to the printer. The User menu has now an "Alert Buzzer" option in the "Setup Menu". If set to OFF, the beeper will stop.
  
  
• Extra 20 second trigger-delay added to subtank sensor. As a countermeasure to prevent ink draining into the waste tank when idle for a longer time, an ink sucking operation was added when the sensor in the subtank is triggered while the printer is on but not in use.  However, this same subtank sensor may also be triggered unwanted while the printer is vibrated / accidentally moving a bit (for example during media load, etc).  The subtank sensor now has a 20 second delay to ensure that printer vibration / slight movement is not taken into account when the sensor switches from On to off.
  
  
• Lifetime Warning Display Printhead (Head 1 & 2) is removed from Life Times in the Setup Menu. The warning will not be displayed  for 7 days if the lifetime display is <canceled> for CR / PF and Pump motor.
  
  
• A function to print the header of the previously printed data, is added to "Header Dump" in the Setup Menu. Please select "Print". If there is no header information, "No Print Data" is displayed and nothing is printed.
  
  
• The ink information of initial charge was not saved, if during the process ends an "ink end" has occurred. This has been fixed.
  
  
• The date information has been added on the print of the previous header dump
  
  
• When using the VPS / MPS is used, the printer sometimes freezes. This has been fixed.
  
  
• The current LCD panel information was added to the RDI file saved by "Printer Info. Backup " of VSM.
  When the RDI file is opened with "Panel Info. Browse" of MSA, you can check with an image the panel status at the time of RDI acquisition.
  
  
• If the cover is opened while the heads are being cleaned, ink drops may adhere to the nozzle surface and fall on the media. Now, a recovery process works in case the head cleaning is interrupted due to covers being opened.
  
  
• The printing time of print jobs is too long to complete when using Mac OS High Sierra. This has been fixed.
  
  
• Changed to initialize the print log when executing "ALL" or "Except User Type" in "Initialization" in Setup.
  
  
• Printer information has been added to the nozzle check pattern.
  
  
• If the ink level of the cartridge is low, an error LED should be displayed on the printer panel and in the MSM status information. It did not actually did in the MSM, this has now been fixed.
  
  
• The printer calculates a printed area but it becomes one third when printing with VPS/MPS using the 360x1080 mode (*PQ235;).
  
  
• A function to send media in the PF direction has been added to determine the take-up tension
  1. "PF feed" is added to setting menu No.26 for media tension adjustment.
  2. In "PF feed" menu, "feed pitch (3mm-24mm)" and "feed amount (1m-10m)" can be selected.
  3. Media feeding can be stopped by pressing the Cancel key.
     
     

Diagnostics

• When waste ink tank is full when being in diagnostics, the message on the display is changed from "NoWaste-InkTank" to "FullWasteInkTank"
  
  
• In diagnostics, when an ink-related error occurs, only a beep sounded but no message was displayed. This issue has been fixed, from now on an error is available on the panel.
  
  
• In diagnostics mode, no message but only a beep was given on the display when events occurred like: cover opened, no cartridge inserted, waste tank full. This has been fixed, now a message appears on the LCD panel.
  
  
• The Paper  Feed motor does not start prints, when "Low 1" to "Low 5" is set in diagnostics mode
  Parameter > Update >PF Speed
  
  
• In the menu Test > History > Print, "5. Head Height" and "6. Media Width" can now be confirmed.
  
  
• If the connection between printer and MSA is accidentally disconnected, while getting the printer's parameters in board manager mode, the printer does not retry to send the parameter to MSA. This has been fixed.
  
  
• An additional item has been to the "Parameters" menu (Update >> Parameters) in order to obtain better Paper Feed motor control. The initial setting is "Type A" and can be changed to Type B, if a PF timeout occurs.

• Corrective action : To prevent overheating of the PF motor when the printer is in stand-by modus (meaning not printing, feeder and winder motor in OFF position) the torque on the PF motor is minimized to avoid overheating but still creating enough torque to keep the media fix in position.
