TIB 864: Possible tube disconnection from head cap (UV models)

Modified on Wed, 29 May, 2024 at 11:39 AM

Dear Customer,

we have been informed by the factory that on a few units a poor head cleaning action was reported.

Further investigation learned that in sporadic cases there is a slight possibility that a tube from the head cap disconnects.

The root cause was identified as the tube retaining ring not being inserted to the correct position.

In order to avoid such occurences in the future MUTOH Japan has introduced some extra inspection points during the Quality Control procedure.

These countermeasures have been implemented as of following serial numbers:

  • XPJ-1462UF: KQ5U000122
  • XPJ-661UF: JM2U002482
  • XPJ-461UF: JI3U002231
  • VJ-1638UH2: JV6U000096
  • VJ-1638UR2: JU6U00017

In case a poor head suction would be noticed on serial numbers prior to the ones mentioned hereabove please check the cap tubes.

How to check ?

Remove the cap head and check the position of the tube retaining ring.

1. Remove the head cap.

2. Check the position of the retaining ring. Gap should be within 1.5mm

Repair Method:

1. Remove the tube which is not OK.

2. Cut 4 mm to 5 mm from the tip of the tube.

3. Insert the tube together with the retaining ring into the cap head .

4. Confirm that the gap between the retaining rings is within 1.5 mm.

5. Install the head cap.

Within 1.5mm→OK

1.5 mm or more→NG
