Dear Customer,
When installing a new XPJ-C641SR-P please ensure to install FW 1.03.
We have been informed by the factory in Japan that the newly released units XPJ-C641SR-P may give an error during the initial cleaning and/or ink charging cycle, i.e. incorrect reading of the smart chips on the cleaning and/or MS31 ink cassettes.
Reason: some of the cartridges may be bent somewhat due to storage conditions. Such bent cartridges may cause poor contact between smart chip and reader, resulting in chip read errors. Since the “smart chip recovery procedure” is not active during these initial cycles it might result in an error message during start-up.
Solution:
The newly released FW 1.03 has a “smart chip recovery procedure” which is also active during the initial cleaning and ink charge cycles, so we advise to upload this FW version prior to starting the printer installation by means of your MSA tool.
This FW version is pre-installed:
- as of serial number KS1U000155 and higher
- on following serial numbers: KS1U000104, 118, 129, 141, 148, 153, 154
Extra:
In case the printer would be installed by the end-user or a company which does not have access to the MSA then uploading this V1.03 will need to be done by means of a special MSA tool : MSA_V604b.
